Who do you think you are?
Look at these images:

Which one is the scene kid? (Yes, I am aware that the girl on the left is me, I'm not claiming to be scene, but it's a style that is generally considered scene. It's a damn example, work with me here)
Why should I care? Because this is bothering me.
Why are there certain standards to everything? "You can't be _____ if you're _____" This irritates me. You can't be goth if you're black. You can't be scene if you're fat/don't have black hair. You can't be pretty if you look like that girl on the left. What's up with that? That's like telling Beyonce she can't be black if she has blonde hair (even if it's not natural), or telling Madonna she can't be a pop star because she's pushing 50. What kind of ridiculousness is that? Do you believe in these standards? All they do is enforce stereotypes.
I know this is going to sound a bit cliche, and maybe you'll call me a delusional wannabe scene kid, but one shouldn't have to conform to any kind of standard just to wear certain things, or do certain things. "Say what you say, do what you do, feel what you feel, as long as it's real." Don't listen to the naysayers. Go on with your bad self.
xoxo
